After the United States repealed Prohibition in the 21st Amendment, the government established the three-tiered system to distribute beer throughout the country. The system calls for distribution companies like Ritchie & Page to buy beer from breweries, in cases and kegs and then sell them to retail customers such as liquor stores, restaurants and bars.

Ritchie & Page Distributing Company has been in the Natale family since 1963, when Lou Natale, Jr. and his brother-in-law bought the company from its founders, Mr. Ritchie, and Mr. Page, both well-known Trenton Businessmen and political leaders. Chris Natale, current president of Ritchie & Page, joined the company in 1997 and moved the business from Trenton to Robbinsville in 2011 after acquiring Crown Beer Distributors. In 2014, Emma Natale granddaughter of the founder joined the company and now holds the position of Director of Marketing and Communications. In 2020, Jack Natale joined the company as Director of Logistics after working for Anheuser Busch for several years.

The R&P eco-initiative: Some of the highlights of our new building include the latest in sustainable distribution technologies. Punch windows in the warehouse’s expansive drive-through bay reduces the need for artificial light and enhances the work environment. A pre-cast concrete panel wall system provides an extremely high insulation rating to help control conditions in the cold storage warehouse. The building also contains a solar panel system on the roof, energy efficient lighting system throughout the warehouse, and the control of the warehouse interior temperature is helped with the use of large industrial circular fans.

Ritchie & Page celebrated 50 years of business in Trenton in 2013, but the owners knew they couldn’t afford to be sentimental. After the purchase of Crown Beer in 2011, the decision was made to move the beer distributor into a new, 150,000-square foot warehouse in Robbinsville. The acquisition more than doubled Ritchie & Page’s customer base and volume, as nearly half of their 1,600 clients are now located in Monmouth and Ocean County. The original territory consisted of southern Hunterdon, Mercer and Burlington counties. In early 2014, the company added an additional 30,000 square feet to the warehouse due to further brand acquisitions and internal growth.

The building meets the high standards set by Anheuser-Busch for its facilities, while setting the bar even higher for the company’s own operations. An expansive meeting room that displays the company’s history, products and awards serve as a showroom for clients and the community. Additionally, Ritchie & Page produces their own signage on site. A draught equipment room is also on site, known as “The Tap House.” This room provides bartender training on site on the proper way to pour a tap beer. This room also houses hundreds of “tap” products found at the bars.

Finally, the company is and has always been active in the community. We regularly participate and contribute to many civic, social, and charitable projects. We strongly believe that contributing to the well-being of our community is vital to the future success and growth of Ritchie & Page.
